I went on the JET Programme in 2004 and had a great time working as an assistant language teacher at a high school in Nagasaki. I didn't study education at university and the thought of becoming a teacher had not really appealed to me when I was younger because I hated public speaking with a passion. I was surprised to find that, once I got over the initial shock of moving to a foreign country, I really enjoyed teaching English. Maybe it's because I love learning languages myself, but I always feel motivated and enthusiastic when I'm teaching people (especially children about English language and UK culture.
Now, I am determined to return to teaching English in Japan. This blog will follow me to my goals - to learn Japanese and to become an awesome English teacher. Hopefully with some interesting adventures on the way!
